Wedding Resort Hunting, Koh Samui

My sister is getting married soon, so we set off for Koh Samui on mission ‘Wedding Resort Hunting’.

Thailand is our favourite country, and we have such wonderful memories from the island, so it wasn’t a difficult decision.

We made a list of top resorts to check out, booked appointments for all before heading off on our wedding resort hunt, starting off with the impressive Banyan Tree Resort & Spa.

As you enter the foyer, you’re greeted by a huge arrangement of flowers, before turning in to a lounge area, complete with shiny, glass windows separating you from the endless ocean.

The whole resort is built on a hill, speckled with large, private resorts – mostly one bedroom. They all have dramatic views overlooking the bay.

We all climbed in to our own little golf carts as the staff whizzed us through the tiny lanes criss-crossing their way through the resort grounds.

First stop was a large lawn area right before the beach, where the wedding ceremony takes place. There were cute coconut pot-plants dotted throughout the grounds were such a lovely feature. Definitely planning on re-creating them for my future garden!

Next to the lawn and beach is a smaller cafe where canapes and champagne can be served after the ceremony takes place.

We then much to my excitement scooted off and up in the hills towards the resorts, taking a sneak peak in to a few.

Now there’s no beating it around the bush, this place is INSANELY expensive. At least $700 a night kind of insane. You definitely pay for being in a world-class resort in Koh Samui.IMG_5465

Each villa has it’s own infinity pool, lounge area, spacious bathroom and small living area.

Next on our list was Le Meridien Resort and Spa. This resort felt very glamorous as we entered it’s minimalist walkway in to an open pool-courtyard.

The most fun I had scouting out these resorts was the way we got treated – big smiles, refreshing drinks and snacks the minute we were seated. Although completely obvious why, it’s always nice to be pampered, and I’m very much looking forward to doing it all over again for myself!

We were taken through little paths surrounded by rich greenery and flowers, down to the pool and restaurant area.

There are several pools dotted around the grounds, each surrounded by about 6 large, private villas with their own entrance.

It’s the perfect set-up for a wedding party, where everyone can hang out together beforehand.

The rooms are pretty lush, with the beds facing directly towards the pool.IMG_5497 IMG_5501

We decided that Le Meridien would be ideal to host the wedding party during the week around the wedding day itself. Their wedding packet price was more reasonable compared to the The Banyan Tree. They’re also only a 5 minute walk away from each other which is ideal for the wedding day.

Having worked up an appetite with all the excitement of planning, we headed back to the restaurant over-looking the pool and beach.

With no shortage of delicious fruits in Thailand, we ordered our favourite juices and tucked in to a fantastic Thai feast.

One of my top picks, soft-shell crab with a spicy, shredded salad on a bed of fresh mango. SO tasty.

We couldn’t resist ordering Pad Thai either, you just can’t go wrong..IMG_5513 IMG_5514 IMG_5515
With this gorgeous view in front of me, my best friends sat next to me and the thought of my sisters wedding on the horizon, I was a very happy girl!

Perhaps even happier when I caved and ordered this delicious cheesecake with raspberry puree.IMG_5518 IMG_5523

A wonderful end to a wonderful day!
